Milan Trip
Milan
trip
I thought that I could tell you about my holiday trip to Milan. So, me and my girlfriend were in Milan from February 9 to 12. This holiday trip was our second trip abroad together. We wanted to go to Milan because we had never been there before, and it seems like to be very fancy and popular place.
First day
First, we had to wake up early because our flight left at Helsinki at 9.00 in the morning and we life in Tampere. We jumped on the train and arrived at Helsinki airport. In the airport we ate breakfast. Our flight was delayed about 1.5 hour, so we waited so long. Flight went well and finally we arrived in Milan. We went straight to the hotel and ate at nearby restaurant because we were very hungry. We took pasta and wine and some tapas. It was heavenly good, and price was also very cheap about total of 40€ for two. Then we took powernap about 30-40 minutes because we were little bit tired because we woke up so early. After powernaps we just went around the city and visited some luxury clothing stores example Gucci, Louis Vuitton, and Prada.
Second day
We had a plan to visit Leonardo Da Vinci Museum and eat some typical Italian food at restaurant. First, we took subway and went to the museum. Museum was interesting and beautiful. There were many beautiful works of art also I learned many new things example I learned about sustainable development. I read many texts in museum but there were so many words that I didn’t understand. After all museum was nice experience and it’s worth to visit.
After museum we were already little hungry, so we decided to go try Italian panini place that we saw on the Tik Tok. This restaurant name was All Antico Vinaio. This restaurant sandwich was something mind blowing. All ingredients and meats were fresh, and bread was crispy and soft inside. This place was very popular and there was about 10-15min queue to get in, but it was worth it to wait because sandwich was best that I have ever eaten. Sandwich cost about 8-10€ and it was very big. I really recommend this place!
After
All Antico Vinaio we went to the shops and just walked around the city centre.
I think that architecture in Milan was different compared to Finland. We went
to the galleria Vittorio Emanuele which is a well-known shopping street in
Milan. There was every luxury brand you can think about. We bought couple items
from different shops. When I had spent almost my entire holiday budget. I said
that maybe it’s better to go somewhere else now. So, we went to very beautiful
coffee shop near to Duomo.
After we had spent all our money on luxury products and overpriced coffees, we decided to walk restaurant. This restaurant was my choice and as you can guess it was pizza restaurant because I love Italian style pizza so much! This restaurant had really amazing atmosphere. You could see when they prepared your pizza. I took my favourite pizza which include tomato sauce, mozzarella, rucola and off course lot prosciutto. Food was good and there was also live music which was nice. Overall, I would give this place maybe 4 stars. After pizza we just went to the hotel and drank some aperitives and after that we went to sleep.
Third day
This
was a day that I had been waiting for because we had a plan that we go to the
Duomo church and Ac Milan football game. I am really big sports fan, so this
day was special to me. First, we took the subway straight to the Duomo. Duomo
was so beautiful and its middle of Milan.
We bought tickets to Duomo that we could go to roof and inside. There
were really nice views on the roof of the Duomo. I was little bit confused how
many small single details there are in Duomo. It was also really beautiful
inside, but we wanted to get out because there were so many tourists.
After
Duomo we just walking around the city and visit the Castello Sforzesco which is castle
in Milan. The surroundings of the castle were really beautiful. After that we
went to eat. Food was good as you can imagine.
After good food we started to move towards to San Siro stadium where Ac Milan plays. All subways were completely full even though it was 3.5 hours before the game started. When we arrived San Siro, we just ate little snacks and drank couple beers. The atmosphere outside the stadium was carnival style and everyone was in a really good mood. Everything seemed ready for the game. Game was very tight but luckily Ac Milan won 1-0. After the game we went to eat late night dinner at good restaurant. Which was near to our hotel. I took pizza and we drank two bottles of white wine. This day was something that I remember all of my life.
Leaving day and my feelings
Monday
was our leaving day but our flight leaves at a night, so we had plenty of time
to shop and once again enjoy Italian food. About 1.00 a.m. our flight was in
Finland, and we were able to travel home to Tampere. About 4.00 a.m. we were at
home.
Overall,
this trip was very good because weather was good and both of us got to see and
do things we like. It’s kind a hard to estimate how many hours I spent speaking
reading and thinking English, but I would say about 24 hours of speaking at
least. Reading about 4-5 hours because in museum and other places we read texts.
Thinking time was almost 24/7 but I don't count it as course hours because it’s
normal when you go to the abroad. Before the holiday we decided to use English as
much as possible with my girlfriend and that went well. Sometimes was very
weird to speak English to my girlfriend in Italy because I think that my
English it’s not that good. However, it was nice to notice how my own speaking
improved all the time during the trip. That is one thing that opened my eyes
about studying English. I understood how important it is to just use English.
Total
hours:
24 hours speaking
4-5
hours reading
Writing
post about 2.5 hours
Total:
58 hours left
